Measure – Children and young people exiting OOHC by Aboriginality and age at exit
- Description
The numbers refer to the total number of children and young people exiting OOHC by Aboriginality and Age at exit in the reporting period. The percentage figures refer to the total number of children and young people exiting OOHC by Aboriginality and Age at exit in the reporting period as a percentage of total number of children and young people exiting OOHC during the year.
Data for non-Aboriginal children and young people also includes children and young people with status not stated.
The increase in children and young people exiting OOHC in 2014-15 was due to the introduction of Guardianship orders in NSW on 29 October 2014.

Under the Safe Home for Life legislative reforms (implemented 29 October 2014), children and young people transitioned to the independent care of their guardian (Guardianship Orders). These children/young people exited and are not counted in out-of-home care from 2014-15 onwards.
Data for non-Aboriginal children and young people also includes children and young people with status not stated.
