Closing the Gap

Homes NSW is working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their communities, organisations and businesses to implement the new National Agreement on Closing the Gap. For more information on Closing the Gap, visit: https://www.closingthegap.gov.au/national-agreement

Future Directions for Social Housing

On 24 January 2016, the NSW Government announced its 10-year vision for social housing, Future Directions for Social Housing in NSW.

NSW Homelessness Strategy 2018 - 2023

- Assertive outreach
  
  Assertive outreach is an evidence-based practice to combat street homelessness. Housing staff, specialist caseworkers and health professionals conduct patrols to proactively engage with people experiencing street homelessness, and provide a pathway to stable long-term housing.
- Street count
  
  The NSW Government will undertake annual street counts to deliver more regular data on our progress towards achieving the target. Street counts will also help foster local collaboration and inform local approaches to prevention, housing options and post-crisis support.

  The ‘Act to End Street Sleeping’ initiative was founded by the Institute of Global Homelessness and seeks to establish “Vanguard” cities in the fight against homelessness.
