Measure – Social housing residential properties as at 30 June
- Description
This refers to the total number of residential properties in Public housing, Aboriginal Housing Office, Indigenous community housing and Community housing as at 30 June.
Social housing residential dwellings are rental housing dwellings provided for people on very low incomes. They include the following:
- Public housing residential dwellings – This refers to the residential dwellings owned by the NSW land and Housing Corporation and managed by DCJ
- Aboriginal Housing Office residential dwellings – This refers to the Aboriginal Housing Office residential dwellings managed by DCJ
- Indigenous community housing residential dwellings – This refers to the Aboriginal community housing residential dwellings managed by Aboriginal community housing providers. The term 'Indigenous Community Housing' or (ICH) is used in national reporting.
- Community housing residential dwellings – This refers to the residential dwellings contracted by DCJ to be managed by community housing providers
The social housing residential dwellings count includes:
- Crisis accommodation dwellings,
- Affordable housing properties owned by DCJ and leased to community housing providers,
- Affordable housing properties leveraged by non-government providers under the asset ownership vesting arrangements, and
- Affordable housing properties delivered through the Social and Affordable Housing Fund.
It excludes land and non-residential assets owned and managed by DCJ and non-rentable residential assets at 30 June each year.
It is important to note that due to different counting rules the figure published in ASR for social housing residential dwellings may differ from other government agencies’ published figure even if the same term of “social housing residential dwellings” has been stated.
