The NSW Community Housing Industry Development Strategy 2013/14 - 2015/16 was a joint initiative of the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and the Community Housing Industry Association NSW. While the original Strategy ended in 2016, industry development activities under the Strategy have continued.

The Industry Development Strategy aims to support the industry to respond to the challenges and opportunities of the emerging environment. Three objectives support this aim. These are to:

  • Enhance community housing providers’ capacity for business development and diversification, including through partnering
  • Enhance community housing providers’ capacity to continue to deliver quality outcomes and demonstrate performance
  • Enhance the capacity of industry stakeholders including investors and funding bodies, to effectively support development of the community housing industry

The Strategy is implemented through an annual program of projects, and over 70 projects have been completed since it began. Resources produced under the Strategy can be found on the CHIA NSW website.
