Port Stephens Homelessness Support Service
This service operating as Port Stephens Family & Neighbourhood Services, supports young people, single men, single women, and families, including women and families escaping domestic violence. It provides holistic homelessness accommodation and support across the Port Stephens area.
It provides a client-centred homelessness support services including prevention and early intervention, rapid rehousing, crisis and transitional accommodation, intensive responses for young people, single men, single women, and families, including clients with complex needs.
This supports clients to remain safely in their existing housing, or where appropriate use a range of approaches to assist clients to secure and sustain safe and stable housing. It ensures clients who become homeless are supported to be rapidly and safely rehoused, and once accommodation has been secured, clients will receive post-crisis support to assist them to maintain accommodation.
The service has a strong focus on responses for Aboriginal young people, women, men and families, and is accessible to people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. It also provides Domestic Violence Response Enhancement (DVRE) to strength their after-hours responses to women in crisis.
