Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens Aboriginal Women and Family Homelessness Support Service
This service operating as Warlga Ngurra supports Aboriginal women and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including Aboriginal women (with or without children) affected by domestic and family violence, or who have complex needs.
It provides client-centred, culturally appropriate homelessness support, including prevention and early intervention, rapid rehousing, crisis and transitional accommodation, and intensive responses for Aboriginal women and families with complex needs.
This service will support the clients to remain safely in their existing housing, or where appropriate use a range of approaches to assist them to secure and sustain safe and stable housing. It also provides outreach services, case management, and brokerage. It has collaborative arrangements with specialist support services (such as domestic and family violence services, education, training and employment, mental health, drug and alcohol services) to facilitate access for clients with complex needs.
This service provides Domestic Violence Response Enhancement (DVRE) to strength their after-hours responses to women in crisis.
