Rural Outreach and Support Service

This service provides information, education and support to women, men, young people and families to support them to deal with or avoid situations of domestic and family violence or homelessness.

This service also supports and delivers appropriate and safe services when supporting Aboriginal people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

It works with individuals and groups to develop personal capacity, skills, self-worth, and independence through education and in partnership with specialist homelessness services. It delivers skills and capacity building workshops covering a broad range of topics, including mental health, nutrition and wellbeing, basic budgeting, goal setting and anti-domestic violence themes.

The service works collaboratively with specialist homelessness services and other service providers to identify, engage and refer clients to programs and services appropriate for their identified needs, and to add value to the supports and interventions available through the broader homelessness and generalist support systems.

The service supports vulnerable, marginalised and disadvantaged people in the community, low socio-economic, and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds located in the Inverell, Glen Innes Severn, Guyra, Gwydir, Tenterfield local government areas, including satellite communities such as Bundarra.
