Measure – Seniors Cards holders

Description

This refers to the total number of recipients of a NSW Seniors Card.

NSW permanent residents aged 60 years or over who do not work for more than 20 hours of paid work per week across a 12 month period are eligible to apply for a Seniors Card.

Measure – Senior households assisted with private rental assistance products

Description

This refers to the total number of households, where the main applicant is aged 55 years or more, assisted with any of the private rental assistance products to secure or maintain their tenancy in the private market:

Prior to the introduction of Rent Choice in 2017-18, several financial housing products were reported under different names. For instance, Rent Choice Start Safely was reported as Start Safely. Rent Choice Youth and private rental subsidy were reported together as Private rental subsidy (excluding Start Safely clients assisted).

A household may access more than one type of housing assistance during the year.

Measure – Senior social housing applicants on the NSW Housing Register as at 30 June

Description

This refers to the total number of applicants aged 55 years or more on the NSW Housing Register who are waiting to be housed in the property of public housing, community housing or Aboriginal Housing Office as at 30 June.

Social housing applicants are defined as households who are eligible and approved to be listed on the NSW Housing Register and who will be offered accommodation in public, community or Aboriginal housing when a suitable property is available.

Measure – Newly housed applicants from the NSW Housing Register in social housing who were previously homeless or at risk of homelessness

Description

This refers to the total number of newly housed applicants aged 55 years or more in public, community or Aboriginal housing who were previously homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Clients who are homeless or at risk of homelessness are regarded as priority applicants to be housed in social housing from the NSW Housing Register.  The number of vacant properties available for re-letting and suitability of the available properties to client needs are two main factors determining if an applicant will be housed in a social housing property.
