Measure - Newly housed applicants in social housing

Description

This refers to the total number of households newly entering into social housing during the quarter.  It counts the number of new applicants who were housed from the NSW Housing Register during the quarter.

Measure – New allocations of housing to households in greatest need

Description

This refers to the total number of new housing allocations to households in greatest need during the quarter as a percentage of the total number of new housing allocations to households during the quarter.

In this Dashboard new households in greatest need can be analysed by the following three ways:

  1. Aboriginality;
  2. Head of households’ age group, and;
  3. Family type;

By Aboriginality, new allocations of housing are reported under two categories, Aboriginal households, which refer to households with at least one of the household members being identified as Aboriginal, and non-Aboriginal households/Households with unknown Aboriginal status, which refer to no household members being identified as Aboriginal or the Aboriginal status for the households is unknown.

By age group of head of households, new allocations of housing are reported under five categories, including the head of households aged under 18 years, the head of households aged 18-24 years, the head of households aged 25-54 years, the head of

households aged 55 years and over, and the age information for households being unknown.

By family type, new allocations of housing are reported under five categories, including single-person households, couple households, households of single parent with dependent children, households of other family with dependent children, and other households.

Measure – Households assisted with temporary accommodation

Description

This refers to the total number of households assisted with temporary accommodation during the quarter.

Temporary accommodation is short-term assistance provided to households who have just become homeless or are at risk of homelessness and have also demonstrated they have nowhere safe to stay that night.
