Two new housing companies, My Foundations Youth Housing and Address Housing, have been established to provide a specialised focus on housing solutions for young people, and women and children experiencing domestic and family violence.

The companies are not-for-profit organisations that will be registered as community housing providers under the National Regulatory System for Community Housing. It is expected that the housing companies will be in operation and registered by late 2014.

My Foundations Youth Housing will initially manage a portfolio of 47 properties in Western Sydney, South Western Sydney, Nepean Blue Mountains and the Mid North Coast. Address Housing will initially manage a portfolio of 34 properties in South Western Sydney, Western Sydney, Newcastle/Lake Macquarie and the Mid North Coast. These properties have been funded primarily from the Transitional National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness 2013/14 Development Fund. These properties will be managed as a new form of transitional housing, Transitional Housing Plus.

The housing companies will be able to manage a full range of housing products as opportunities arise, including managing regular transitional housing properties on behalf of specialist homelessness services.

The establishment of the housing companies has been achieved through a partnership between FACS and the peak agencies, YFoundations and DV NSW. The model for each housing company has been developed in consultation with services that provide accommodation and support to young people, and women and children experiencing domestic and family violence.
