NSW Grandparents Day celebrates the contributions grandparents and older people make to their families and communities. It recognises the diversity of grandparent relationships across age groups, cultural backgrounds, and geographical locations.
10 Jun 2016: Nominations for the 2016 Premier’s Award have now opened. The award recognises excellence by individuals and teams in the delivery of public services to the NSW community by the public sector, not-for-profit organisations and private businesses.
A dynamic new program called the Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) has been launched to better promote the wide range of support and services available to young people who are, or have been in Out of Home Care (OOHC).
New changes have been made to child protection legislation that have expanded the range of professionals who can exchange information about the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people under Chapter 16A of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection Act) 1998.
2 May 2016: We recently launched a smartphone app for young people leaving care. Resolve helps these young people on their journey to independence. It gives them access to information they need, when they need it and just a click away.
28 Apr 2016: To support the transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), the NSW Government is transferring all of its specialist disability services to the non-government sector by July 2018.
Our ageing population is a long-term focus of the NSW Government. So far, the Ageing Strategy has had a positive impact in improving the life circumstances of older people in NSW. Since its launch in 2012, around 80 per cent of the NSW Ageing Strategy’s initiatives have been completed, or are on track for completion.
