In March 2017 Family and Community Services (FACS) announced that 26 service providers were moving to the next stage of the open tender to provide Intensive Therapeutic Care for our most vulnerable children and young people.
Youth Off the Streets (YOTS), which runs the New Pathways program, was unsuccessful in moving to this stage.
As a result, children and young people in the New Pathways program were transitioned to new care providers.
All children from the New Pathways program who are under FACS case management and did not return home to their families are now in permanent placements, with the exception of one child, who is expected to move into a permanent placement within days.
FACS makes every effort to ensure that support arrangements are in the child’s best interests, are culturally appropriate and minimise disruption to the child’s life.
