Review of the Sector Development Program 2018 – 2020
To ensure a capable and sustainable service system, the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) funds 14 peak and consumer organisations to undertake capacity-building and advocacy activities under the Sector Development Program.
Our ability to maintain a strong and capable sector is more important than ever as we commission agencies to deliver better individual and community outcomes.
To do this, we’re reviewing our approach to commissioning sector development to reflect the changing needs of the sector with clients at its centre, and to support peak and consumer organisations to deliver strong and effective programs that build sector capacity and confidence.
FACS has worked with peaks, Districts and Commissioning Program areas to develop the scope of the review, and will continue to work with peaks throughout the reviewprocess.
A fact sheet has been prepared with more information on the review between 2018 – 2020.
Opportunities to participate
Phase 1 statewide consultations for the review will take place in November 2018 through face-to-face forums, focus groups, interviews and a survey.
FACS will be speaking to FACS operational staff, commissioning and planning teams, program areas, peak and community organisations and their members.
We want to hear directly from you about your experience with sector development and capacity building initiatives so far and what the needs are now and in the future for you, your organisation, or the broader sector.
We will shortly be issuing invitations to consultation opportunities in Northern, Southern and Western NSW and in Sydney Metro areas. You will also be invited to participate in an online survey.
